How to choose the right car class for your trip

The cheapest car is not always the best value, and the biggest is rarely needed. The right class depends on three things: how many people travel, how much luggage they carry and where you are going. Here is how we help customers choose.

Economy: two people, mostly town

Dacia Sandero Stepway, Renault Clio, Toyota Yaris Hybrid

Small, easy to park and cheap to run. Ideal for a couple with two cabin bags or one large suitcase, for city trips and short drives out of town. The Yaris Hybrid is the one to pick if you will sit in Bucharest traffic: it is automatic and very economical.

Compact: a bit more of everything

Volkswagen Golf

Still easy to park, but more comfortable on the motorway, with an automatic gearbox and modern safety systems. Four adults fit for a day trip; two people with full luggage travel in comfort for a week.

Estate: the family's secret weapon

Škoda Octavia Combi

As easy to drive as a compact car, with a huge 640-litre boot. Perfect for a family with a pushchair, for skis, or for a long trip to the seaside. Its diesel engine is the most economical choice for long motorway journeys.

SUV: higher, tougher, more versatile

Dacia Duster 4x4, Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid

A higher seating position, more ground clearance and four-wheel drive. Choose an SUV for the mountains, for winter, and for villages where the last kilometres are gravel. The Duster is simple and tough; the RAV4 adds comfort, an automatic gearbox and quiet electric driving in town.

Business: comfort that shows

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

For meetings, airport transfers and long distances in silence. Leather seats, a smooth automatic gearbox and a large, quiet cabin. Drivers from 25 years.

Minivan: everyone together

Volkswagen Touran (7 seats), Mercedes-Benz V-Class (8 seats)

When the group is bigger than five, one minivan beats two cars: one driver, one parking space, one fuel bill. The Touran suits a family with children; the V-Class carries eight adults and their suitcases. We fit child seats for free.

Convertible and sport: for the drive itself

Mazda MX-5, BMW M340i xDrive

Sometimes the car is the point. The MX-5 makes a mountain road an event; the M340i turns a motorway into a short hop. Drivers from 25 years, and a higher deposit.

A quick rule of thumb

  • 1–2 people, light luggage: economy.
  • 2–4 people, a week's luggage: compact or estate.
  • Mountains, winter, gravel: SUV.
  • 5–8 people: minivan.
  • A special occasion: convertible or sport.

Price and length

The longer you rent, the less each day costs: from 7 days the daily price drops, and from 30 days it drops again. Our rental terms list the deposit for each class.
